WORDS OF WELCOME

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Guests,

Welcome to Hohenzollern Castle in Sigmaringen. For some, it is Germany’s second-largest city palace. For others, a cultural landmark with over a thousand years of history. For our family, however, it has been a cherished princely residence since the 16th century – a place filled with personal memories and deep emotional ties. It is for this reason that we feel a special responsibility to share with you what we strive to preserve. And by that we do not mean only our time-honoured residence, but all the remarkable cultural and natural treasures of the Hohenzollern holiday region.

Each of these places bears witness to a different chapter in history. They speak of the tides of time – of war, loss, and division, but also of love, dreams, and enduring visions. These traces of the past are particularly vivid here at Hohenzollern Castle in Sigmaringen, a true treasury of German and European history.

From our openness to change has grown our self-understanding. We do not forget the past, but seek to place it within the contemporary context of the present day. Our guiding principle can best be described as “From Tradition to Modernity” – a sentiment that expresses both humility and gratitude, as well as a firm belief in the future and in progress.

We invite you to linger, to reflect, and to marvel – whether during a guided tour through our magnificent halls and the striking Hall of Arms, or over a relaxed rendezvous in the castle kitchen, or even a romantic wedding ceremony in the Leopold Hall.

It is our joy and our passion to share this living heritage with you.
We look forward to welcoming you in person.

His Highness Karl Friedrich Prince of Hohenzollern
Her Highness Princess Katharina of Hohenzollern
